Tamil Nadu records 91.55 pass percentage, Chennai recorded 88.21 per cent in Class 10 board exam

As per the data from the school education department, 4.22 girls (94.53 %) and 3.96 boys (88.58%) cleared the exam, out of the 8.81 lakh students this year. However, 8.94 lakh students had registered for the exam this academic year.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu secured 91.55 percent in the class 10 board exam this academic year. Ariyalur district recorded the highest percentage in the State with 97.31 percent, followed by Sivagangai at 97.02 percent and Ramanathapuram at 96.02 percent.

As per the data from the school education department, 4.22 girls (94.53 %) and 3.96 boys (88.58%) cleared the exam, out of the 8.81 lakh students this year. However, 8.94 lakh students had registered for the exam this academic year.

Girls, however, have scored 5.95% higher than boys.

The pass percent last academic year was at 91.39 percent, with as many as 8.35 lakh students clearing the exam out of 9.14 lakh students.

As far as, State capital, Chennai recorded 88.21 pass percentage and government school performed 79.07 percent. And, the neighbouring districts Kancheepuram recorded 87.55 percent, followed by Chengalpattu district at 87.38 percent and Thiruvallore 86.52 percent.

Meanwhile, Karaikkal recorded 65.42 pass percentage and Puducherry recorded 81.72 percent.

Overall, 12,625 schools across TN had registered for the class 10 boards, of them, 7,491 are high schools and 5,134 schools are higher secondary schools.

Also, across the State, 4,105 schools recorded full pass percentage, of which 1,364 schools are government schools

Furthermore, the data showed that in class 10 board exams, government schools scored 87.90 percent and aided schools recorded 91.77 percent.

As far as centums are concerned, eight students secured centum in Tamil, 415 students in English, 20, 691 students scored centum in Mathematics, 5,104 students in science and 4,428 students in social science papers.

And, in case of differently-abled students, they recorded 92.45 percent in class 10 boards. 12,491 students cleared the exam out of 13,510 students who appeared for the exam. Also, out of 260 prison inmates, 228 inmates cleared the boards recording 87.69 percent.

The data further pointed out that the performance subject-wise are; 96.85 percent in Tamil and other language papers, 99.15 percent in English paper, 96.78 percent in mathematics paper, 96.72 percent in science paper and 95.74 percent in social science paper.

Additionally, the performances of schools under other departments have been rather promising. Schools under the Tribal welfare department recorded 92.45%, the highest among schools under other departments.

Subsequently, Kallar schools recorded 91.75 percent, Adi Dravidar Welfare (ADW) schools recorded 84.68 percent and schools under the Forest department scored 90.91 percent.
