Coimbatore tops Class 11 board exams with 96.02 per cent
TN’s overall 91.17 pass percentage slightly higher than last year
CHENNAI: The pass percentage in the Class 11 board exam 91.17 per cent this year, results of which was announced on Tuesday, was slightly higher than the last year’s percentage of 90.93.
Meanwhile, Coimbatore recorded the highest pass percentage of 96.02, followed by Erode district with 95.56 per cent and Tirupur district 95.23 per cent.
Meanwhile, Karaikkal recorded 96.27 per cent and Puducherry recorded 97.89 per cent, notch higher than Tamil Nadu.
As many as 7.39 lakh students have cleared the Class 11 board exam. Of them, 4.04 lakh were girls, who scored 94.69 per cent and 3.35 lakh boys, who recorded 87.26 per cent in the final exam. Girls scored 7.43 per cent higher than boys.
As per the data from the Directorate of Government Examination (DGE), 7,534 higher secondary schools registered for the exam. Of which, 1,964 higher secondary schools scored full pass per cent, of them, 241 higher secondary schools are government schools. Out of 8,221 differently-abled candidates, 7,504 students cleared the exam, recording 91.27 per cent. Also, 170 prison inmates cleared the exam, out of the 187 registered, recording 90.90 per cent pass percentage.
The pass percentage of schools as per management is as follows; government schools scored 85.75 per cent, aided schools scored 92.36 per cent and private schools 98.09 per cent. Co-ed schools in state bagged 91.61 pass percentage.
Additionally, 8,418 centum were registered this year in the Class 11 exam. Of which, eight centum were secured in Tamil, 13 centum in English and 3,432 centum in computer science subjects.
In the government-school performance, Erode district recorded the highest pass percentage of 92.86 per cent, followed by Ariyalur with 92.59 per cent and Tirupur district with 92.06 per cent.
Furthermore, under schools of other departments, Social Welfare department schools recorded 93.69 per cent, Kallar School scored 91.62 per cent, Tribal Welfare schools recorded 89.81 per cent and Adi Dravidar Welfare schools recorded 84.14 per cent.
In the group-wise performance, the science stream recorded the highest pass per cent of 94.31, followed by commerce stream at 86.93 pc, the arts at 72.89 and vocational recorded 78.72 pass per cent.
