Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session to be held between June 20 to 29

Originally scheduled for June 24, the session was advanced by a few days owing to the July 10 Vikravandi by poll.

CHENNAI: The session of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly (TNLA), which begins on June 20, would continue till June 29. According to a notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat Wednesday, the House would be convened at 9am in the Assembly hall on Secretariat campus on June 20. The schedule of the Assembly was notified after the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the House.

As per the scheduled released by the Assembly secretariat, on the opening day of the session (June 20), obituary references would be read for deceased ex-MLAs and a condolence resolution passed by the House for Vikravandi MLA N Pugalendhi, who passed away during the peak of the Lok Sabha poll campaign.

The House would sit for business both in the morning and evening on all days with not less than two departments taken up for debate during each session to help wrap up the session in less than a fortnight.

On Friday, the House would debate on the demand for grants for Water resources and labour departments in the morning, and Housing, Prohibition, disabled welfare and social welfare departments in the evening. Debate on demand for grants for Municipal administration and rural development, agriculture and fisheries would follow on Saturday, June 22. Debate on demand for grants for Home and police portfolio held by Chief Minister M K Stalin would be held for two days from June 28. Chief Minister Stalin would reply for the debate on June 29. Finance, energy, state assembly and public departments would be taken up on June 26.
