CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party president K Annamalai said on Wednesday that the real black days of democracy were during the Congress regime when the state governments were dismissed 90 times using Article 356 of the Constitution.

"Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi alone had dismissed elected state government's 50 times and those were the real dark days of democracy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had explained clearly in Parliament as to what the Delhi Services Bill was and it was not against democracy like what the Congress has done during its days in power, " Annamalai tweeted.

Further, the former IPS officer turned politician said that in 1975, India Gandhi declared emergency and pushed the country into a deep pit.

"It was Karunanidhi who had rolled out a red carpet welcome to Indira Gandhi after the emergency inviting her to Tamil Nadu with the statement, 'Daughter of Nehru come and bring stable government'. Delhi is a Union Territory with limited powers. Someone should inform Stalin that he is confusing the state rights of Delhi, " added Annamalai.

Therefore, the saffron party leader said that DMK is a 'loyal slave' of the Congress party and that being a loyal slave of Congress, DMK cannot support the welfare bills of the Union government.
