Vengaivayal: Vijay joins DMK’s allies in rebuffing CB-CID’s findings, urges for HC-monitored SIT probe
Vijay further criticised the delay in investigation reports filed by the CB-CID, cautioning that if the central government orders a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), it would only lead to more delays and prevent timely justice for the people of Vengaivayal.
CHENNAI: The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Sunday demanded the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the direct supervision of the Madras High Court to re-investigate the Vengaivayal case, not willing to buy into the chargesheet filed by CB-CID charging that fellow Dalits themselves contaminated the drinking water over previous enmity.
In a statement, Vijay emphasised the need for a fair, unbiased, and impartial probe to identify and bring the real perpetrators to justice.
He stressed that the victims and their families deserve justice, and it is the authorities' responsibility to ensure that the guilty are punished.
Vijay raised questions about the CB-CID probe, which was done under the state government’s purview.
The actor-turned-politician expressed concerns that the investigation may not have been thorough. He said that the report raised more questions than answers. He added that ordering a CBI probe, as suggested by some, would only lead to further delays and deny the people of Vengaivayal the speedy justice they deserve.
“The Vengaivayal case is a highly condemnable and inhumane act that has outraged the collective conscience of our society. We must ensure a thorough and impartial investigation to identify the real culprits and bring them to justice. The victims and their families have suffered immensely, and it is our responsibility to ensure that they receive the justice they deserve,” Vijay said.
He wanted the fresh probe to be conducted under the dire supervision of the Madras High Court. He added that this will ensure that the investigation is fair, unbiased, and impartial.
