TVK conference: Two more supporters die in car accident en route to Vikravandi

Another supporter on their way to attend the party meet had died in a road collision earlier today in Chennai.

CHENNAI: Two individuals who were on their way to attend the first state conference of Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) died in a car accident on Sunday.

They were killed when the SUV in which they were travelling overturned in Sheik Hussainpet near Ulundurpet in Kallakurichi district.

Police said that when the SUV neared Sheik Hussainpet, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and dashed against the median, as quoted by news agency IANS.

Six others in the vehicle were seriously injured in the accident and admitted to Ulundurpet General Hospital, a report by Thanthi TV said.

The deceased were identified as Kalai and Srinivasan of Tiruchy, who were on the way to Vikravandi to attend the TVK party's first public meeting.

Earlier on Sunday morning, one person died while another sustained severe injuries when a lorry collided with their two-wheeler at Teynampet in Chennai, said a Thanthi TV report.

The accident happened near AG DMS Metro Rail station around 6.30 am. One of them died on the spot, while the other sustained severe injuries and is now undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
