Two female employees of Tiruttani Murugan temple held for stealing devotees offerings worth Rs 1.15 lakh

The accused were identified as Thenmozhi (35) from Veeramangalam and Vyjayanthi (44) from Nagapoondi.

CHENNAI: Two women staff engaged for counting hundial money in Tiruttani Murugan temple were arrested by the police for allegedly pocketing Rs 1.15 lakh cash stealthily.

Police sources said that the women, identified as Thenmozhi (35) of Veeramangalam and Vyjayanthi (44) from Nagapoondi were caught on CCTV which led to their arrest.

The money offered by devotees in the month of June were counted on Monday in the presence of temple joint commissioner (in-charge) Arunachalam and trustees Suresh Babu, Nagan, and Mohanan.

On noticing the women stealing the money, the temple administration immediately informed the Tiruttani Police, who rushed to the spot and began searching for the stolen money and seized the cash. Tiruttani Police arrested the duo and remanded them to judicial custody.
