CHENNAI: Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) approached the Tiruchy railway authorities on Thursday and appealed for permission to organise their first-ever rally at the sentimental G-Corner here.

TVK has been planning to organise the first-ever show of strength rally and the party’s general secretary Bussy Anand visited a few spots in Tiruchy including Siruganur and Inamkulathur grounds in vain. Hence, the TVK functionaries approached the Tiruchy railway authorities and appealed for permission to hold a rally in September.

The G-Corner has a long political history where Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, late chief ministers M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa had addressed mammoth gatherings.

It is learnt that the TVK has almost finalised the venue and submitted a letter in which they had reportedly sought permission from September 1 to 28 for 60 acres of land as they expect around 10 lakh people to attend. However, the officials asked for specific date so that they could send the letter to the railway board for final approval.
