Paris Olympics 2024 Day 2: Shooter Manu Bhaker fetches India its first medal; Manika Batra through to next round in table tennis

CHENNAI: It has been a good day for Indian athletes on Day two of the Paris Olympics 2024 with ace shooter Manu Bhaker opening the country's account with a bronze in women's 10m air pistol. She also became the first woman shooter to win a medal in shooting.
Shuttler PV Sindhu marked her first win in the Paris outing followed by rower Balraj Panwar entering the quarterfinals of the men's single sculls. On the other hand, Ramita Jindal advanced to the final of the women's individual 10m Air Rifle event.
Meanwhile, paddler Sreeja Akula and Manika Batra won their opening games in round of 64 of women's table tennis singles. However, India's flag bearer Sharath Kamal lost to Deni Kozul in men's table tennis singles.
Additionally, Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal after giving a tough fight against Corentin Moutet lost in the final set.
