CHENNAI: India beat Great Britain 4-2 in penalty shoot-out to enter the semifinals of the men's hockey at the Paris Olympics, having played with only 10 players for more than 40 minutes on Sunday. Lakshya Sen lost to the Danish player Victor Axlesen in two straight sets in the badminton singles semi-finals. At one point it looked like Lakshya would equalise by winning the second set after leading 7-0. But the defending champ was unstoppable and qualified for the final. Lakshya will now play for the bronze medal against Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia on Monday. Another upset for India in boxing as Lovlina Borgohain lost in the quarter-final to top seed Li Qian of China 1:4. India’s Jeswin Aldrin failed to qualify to the Men’s long jump finals after only registering one successful jump of 7.61m which was not enough to make the cut. He ended up in 13th place.
