Reaching the final of the Asia Cup in 2012 was the highlight of Bangladesh cricket. But after that their form in limited-over cricket has been dismal for two years: in the 2014 Asia Cup they did not even win a single match but in the 2015 World Cup in Australia they came up with a heart-warming performance that took them to the quarterfinals.

However, the Asia Cup held in T20 format for the first time will test the hosts’ skills as their form in the shortest limited-over format has not been all that encouraging.

They drew a recent series against Zimbabwe and lost miserably by South Africa. The hosts may not be the favourites with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the fray there is something about Bangladesh that is unpredictable. They have young team and they are playing on home conditions.

Captain Mashrafe Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are the core members of the team. Soumya Sarkar, Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are capable players. Shakib and Mortaza are the most experienced players in the squad and a lot will depend on them while handling pressure situations.
