Don Bosco, Perambur were crowned champions of the second edition of the Schools Premier League that concluded at the Nehru Stadium 'B' ground here on Sunday. Don Bosco beat St Patricks ICSE 2-1.
The match started on a horrid note for the winners when they conceded in the 12th minute when M Ashwin scored for St Patrick's.
Chasing the score for almost the entire game, Don Bosco found the equaliser in the 54th minute through Ajay Rajan.
Harishwaran, then scored the all-important goal of the tournament when he found the target in added time, much to the jubilation of the Don Bosco bench.
In the semi-finals, Don Bosco got the better of St Michael's Academy while St Patricks beat MCC.
R Prabhu of MCC was awarded the most valuable player of the tournament while Don Bosco's Threson Smith won the best goalkeeper award. St Patrick's R Arshan walked away with the Golden Boot award. Vana Vani Matric. Hr. Sec. School took the Fair Play Award home for their stupendous behaviour on the field.
The Schools Premier League was rated one of the grassroots initiatives by Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC.
