First, medium-pacer K Vignesh picked up five wickets to restrict Mumbai to 176 all out and then their openers Abhinav Mukund and Washington Sundar put on 100 runs to bring TN back into the match. However, in the last session left-arm spinner Ved Gohil took three wickets and Dhawal Kulkarni two as Tamil Nadu lost six for 46 to give the advantage back to Mumbai. Vignesh started with Kaustubh Pawar’s (35) wicket and when he dismissed last man Vijay Gohli, he had a five-wicket haul. In between, Aswin Crist picked up two wickets in one over as Mumbai could not score as much as they would have loved after getting TN out for 87.

Abhinav Mukund and Washington Sundar boosted TN’s chances with the highest partnership of the match and in the process, erased Mumbai’s lead. But once Dhawal Kulkarni dismissed Washington Sundar for 40 bowling from around the wicket, the TN batting fell apart. Mukunad completed his half-century and left after making 56. The TN hopes on the third day rest on Baba Aparajith (15 batting). In other matches, the first double ton of the new season came from the bat of Harpreet Singh Bhatia, who remained unbeaten on 216 as MP were bowled out for 466 against UP.
