In a match dominated by India, Spain made use of the only chance they got in the first half to score through Marc Serrhima. Simranjeet Singh scored the equaliser with 11 minutes to go and two minutes from close Harmanpreet Singh gave India the match-winner. India will meet Australia in the semi-final. Germany will meet Belgium in the other semi-final. India got two penalty-corners in the first five minutes but Spain defended well to foil both. Then Varun Kumar tested Perez Albert, the Spanish goal-keeper in the 15th minute, who came up with a fine save.
