Lampard enjoys retirement with wife’s birthday celebrations

The Chelsea legend has called time on his career having considered his options after leaving New York City at the end of the MLS season and enjoyed his first day or retirement as he and the family got together for the birthday of wife Christine. 

Lampard posted an image of his wife and one of his daughters and said: “The benefits of retirement! Times with my 3 girls. Happy birthday to my beautiful wife.” His wife later posted an image of Lampard smiling at the table and said: “Thank you for all your birthday wishes and your messages for @ franklampard today. Really means a lot! We thought we’d have a celebratory dinner tonight.” 

The 38-yearold won every major club honour during his time at Stamford Bridge and also played for West Ham and Manchester City in the Premier League.

Lampard posted a lengthy message thanking his family and those he played with and wrote: “After 21 incredible years, I have decided that now is the right time to finish my career as a professional footballer.”
