The former cricketers not only took the commentary box by storm, their off-field appearances in the Tamil Nadu culture went down well with the fans.

For the second season of the league, cricketers like Michael Clarke, Ben Hilfenhaus, Simon Doull and David Hussey have expressed interest to be a part of the commentary team. “It is largely due to the good feedback Lee and Hayden have given to these cricketers. They enjoyed their stint and their interactions and involvement with the budding crop were well received. The cricketers also want to do the same,” a Star India spokesperson said.

Lee and Hayden, dressed in south Indian attire, went to southern districts and involved themselves in cooking food items such as Tirunelveli halwa and parotta. “The game is now all about how well one can enjoy off the field too. Moreover, Hilfenhaus and Hussey have played for Chennai Super Kings and that can give a connect to the fans too. We would be delighted to have these established names on board,” the source added.

According to him, the league is a big hit. “When we started TNPL, no one including us didn’t know what to expect and we are thrilled at the phenomenal response we have got. What is more, the number of people who watched the league outside Tamil Nadu is almost the same as how people embraced it in the state. It is surely getting bigger,” he explained.
