The British maestro, who was named top seed at the All England Club, had earlier withdrawn from a warm-up match against Frenchman Lucas Pouille, as well as from the knockabout game for Tim Henman’s charity foundation because of a sore hip. Reflecting on the injury, Murray expressed his disappointment.
“Sadly I won’t be ready to play at Hurlingham on Friday, my hip is still sore and I need to rest it today and likely tomorrow,” he said. Murray will be the defending champion going into the third major of the season.
