Indian colts take 2-0 lead after big win

Indian Under-19 boys scored a thumping eight-wicket win over England Under-19 in the second One-Day International to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series on Wednesday.

The Indian colts took only 33.2 overs to chase the 176-run target set by England after the visitors’ spinners dismissed the home side for 175 in 44.4 overs at St Lawrence ground, Canterbury.

Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy, who had come up trumps in the first match with a four-wicket haul and an unbeaten 43, repeated his feat with the ball this time too as he took four wickets for 27 runs in 10 overs. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar returned 3 for 26 in 8.4 overs in the rout of England. 

India had the chase under control as openers Prithvi Shaw (48 off 51 balls, seven fours) and Himanshu Rana (74 off 85 balls, nine fours) added 110 in 16.4 overs. 

Brief scores: England U-19 175 all out in 44.4 overs (TA Lammonby 30, R Chahar 3/26, AS Roy 4/27) lost to India U-19 177/2 in 33.2 overs (Prithvi Shaw 48, Himanshu Rana 74, Shubman Gill 38 not out).
