TNCA President’s XI in sight of win

TNCA President’s XI is closing in on a second successive win in the Kalpathi AGS Buchi Babu tournament here on Friday. After bowling out Assam for 176, TNCA President’s XI reached a healthy 105 for one in 28 overs.

Left-arm spinner Rahil S Shah did the bulk of the damage taking five for 54 and he received good support from off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan who finished with three wickets. Assam, who is coming off a loss to Kerala in its last match, won the toss and chose to bat. 

But for a crucial third-wicket partnership of 80 runs between Ryan Parag 65 (96b, 8x4, 2x6) and southpaw Abhishek Thakuri 55 (139b, 7x4), Assam could have been in danger of being dismissed for a two-digit score. TNCA President’s XI started off their chase confidently with opener L Surya prakash unbeaten on 35 and keeping him company was R Rohith on 47.

Elsewhere, riding on K Sumanth’s unbeaten 103 (150b, 10x4, 1x6), Hyderabad scored 354 for nine at stumps against TNCA XI at the SRMC grounds. Hyderabad skipper P Akshath Reddy helped himself to 67 (87b, 9x4, 2x6) while opener Tanmay Agarwal scored a composed 82 (141b, 10x4, 1x6). The duo added 126 runs for the first wicket in 28.1 overs. Left-arm spinner R Aushik Srinivas impressed for the host picking five wickets for 103 runs.
