Opener Aaron Finch, all-rounder James Faulkner, bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile and leg-spinner Adam Zampa were some of the prominent names to figure in the practice.
The support staff including assistant coach David Saker, who is standing in for Darren Lehmann, and the batting consultant Graeme Hick oversaw the session. In keeping with his reputation, opener Finch struck a few lusty hits before withdrawing to the dressing room to keep away from the sweltering heat.
An international match at Chepauk sends the city into a tizzy and that was the case yet again as hundreds of fans congregated near the ticket counter since the break of dawn on Sunday to get hold of the match tickets.
Chennai will host the first of the five ODIs on September 17. The last time the city staged an ODI was when South Africa came calling two years ago. Fans braved the intense heat and were understandably elated after they managed to procure the ticket.
