Stoinis predicts run-spree

Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis predicted the upcoming ODI series against India will witness a run-scoring spree and scoring in excess of 300 will be the norm. Stoinis was wary of the threat posed by the Indian spinners even though the duo of R Ashwin and R Jadeja has been rested.

“The way I see it every single one of the Indian players is a threat. There is an abundance of talented spinners in India. And our batsmen have to deliver by scoring big runs in the region of 350 for us to have a shot at win,” said the 28-year-old. Stoinis was pleased with the way he batted and said his team had a lot of positives to take away from the win.

“The batters made good runs early and in terms of spinners Ashton Agar bowled beautifully. We got to understand the conditions and the lengths one has to bowl. And personally being here as part of the Emerging series with the ‘A’ team a couple of years ago also came in handy,” added Stoinis. Stoinis thanked the contribution of spin consultant Shridharan Sriram.

“I worked with Sriram during the IPL. We both get on well. He asked me to trust my defence before launching into an attack on the spinners,” said Stoinis.
