With 32 points from 13 matches, the Thalaivas will have to win six of the nine remaining matches, six of them in Chennai, to make it to the Super Playoffs. The Sachin Tendulkar co-owned unit starts its home campaign against Deepak Hooda’s Puneri Paltan followed by clashes against Jaipur Pink Panthers and U Mumba. After a rest day on Monday, it will square off against Telugu Titans, UP Yoddha and Bengaluru Bulls from Zone B to finish off its home leg.
On the back of its last two successive wins, the Tamil Thalaivas will look to continue its winning ways on home soil. The Ajay Thakur led outfit has had a poor start to the campaign with four wins, two ties and seven losses in its first 13 encounters, languishing at the bottom of the table in Zone B.
The raiding department has been a cause of concern for the men from down south. Prapanjan, Thivakaran, Vineet and Dong Geon Lee have not assisted India’s talismanic raider, Ajay Thakur, in crunch situations. As far as the defensive unit is concerned, a few silly errors towards the fag end of various games have turned out to be the difference between the two teams.
Tamil Thalaivas’ fixtures: vs Puneri Paltan (Sept 29); vs Jaipur Pink Panthers (Sept 30): vs U Mumba (Oct 1); vs Telugu Titans (Oct 3); vs UP Yoddha (Oct 4); vs Bengaluru Bulls (Oct 5).
