Thalaivas goes down fighting to U Mumba
Tamil Thalaivas failed to register a home win on its third attempt with U Mumba handing it a 30-33 defeat. An outstanding performance from skipper Ajay Thakur went in vain as the visitor put up an all-round effort to defeat the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned unit. The chances of making it to the Super Playoffs was dealt a huge blow after this 3-point loss.

In the other encounter, Bengal Warriors bagged a crucial win over Jaipur Pink Panthers with a score line of 32-31 at the end of 40 minutes here on Sunday.
A near capacity crowd of 6700 was treated to another cliffhanger of a contest at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor stadium, Chennai. The Abhishek Bachchan owned outfit was without the services of its regular starter Jasvir Singh.
The men from the Pink city had a slender lead of one point at half time with Maninder Singh single-handedly keeping the Bengal Warriors in the hunt. The former Pink Panthers champion had a stellar outing decimating his opponents with 16 points to his name. The penultimate game of the ‘Inter Zone Challenge Week’ saw the Panthers inflict the first all out of the encounter 23 minutes into the contest. The Bengal Warriors came back with a bang with Maninder chipping in with crucial raid points.
“We will have to win the remaining encounters and hope Patna Pirates lose a game or two. The tie against the bottom placed Delhi and the loss against U Mumba could have been avoided. Our ultimate aim is to finish on top of Zone B”, said Jagdeesha, coach of the Bengal Warriors on the win.
“In order to be the champion, we will have to win all of our upcoming matches. Anything less than that is just a consolation for us”, said a frustrated Balwan Singh (Coach of Jaipur Pink Panthers)
