Leaving behind its woeful run of form, Titans called the shots and effected two allouts in the space of six minutes in the first half to seize the advantage at 25-11.
The score at half time was 30-15 in Titans favour. Star raider Rahul Chaudhari stole the thunder with 16 points and received good support from Iranian Mohsen Maghsoudlou who had 12 points to his credit.
Although Thalaivas inflicted an all-out in the 35th minute, it was too little too late as the damage had already been done. Trailing 29-46 at that stage, Thalaivas found it difficult to overturn the deficit. With yet another defeat at home, Thalaivas’ hopes of qualifying for the playoffs are over. Earlier, table toppers Gujarat Fortunegiants trounced Delhi Dabang 42 - 22.
Right from the onset, it was abundantly clear that Gujarat was the odds-on favourite to win the match. The only point of interest being how big the margin of victory would be.
In the first half alone, Gujarat inflicted two all-outs and galloped to a 27-9 lead. That the team from the capital could earn its first tackle point only in the 23rd minute is enough indication of Gujarat’s stranglehold on the proceedings. The star raider for Gujarat was Chandran Ranjit as he finished with nine points. There was still ample time left for Gujarat to inflict another all-out in the 31st minute and could have had a few more if there was no let-up in its intensity.
