Chennai

In spite of dismal performances by the home side across a week (Chennai leg) of the league stage, the encounters managed to attract near capacity crowds on all match days.  The three-month long event will come to a close with the Qualifier 2 and Final set to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here in the city on 26th (Thursday) and 28th (Saturday) of this month.
With Gujarat Fortune giants and Bengal Warriors finishing furthest up in the points table in their respective zones, both sides will enjoy their trip back to ‘Gateway of South India’ after successful outings during the league phase of the Chennai leg.
The former won both its games while the latter prevailed victorious in a nail biting clash. A glimpse of Jang Kun Lee’s quick toe touch and Iranian beast Fazel Atrachali’s thumping ankle hold shall be on the cards.
A win for either of the two in Qualifier 1 guarantees a spot in the final while the loser will have a second crack on the penultimate match day of PKL Season 5. Puneri Paltan, Haryana Steelers, Patna Pirates and UP Yoddha are the other four sides to have made it to the ‘Super Playoffs’, which is set to kick start in Mumbai on Monday.
One of these four will set up a mouth-watering clash against debutants Gujarat Fortune giants or Bengal Warriors in Qualifier 2. The winners of Qualifiers one and two will be a part of the epic final on October 28.
FIXTURES:
October 26: Qualifier 2 - Loser of Qualifier 1 vs Winner of Eliminator 3
October 28: Final - Winner of Qualifier 1 vs Winner  of Qualifier 2 Fans
