Ranji Trophy: Prithvi Shaw century helps Mumbai recover against TN

Opener Prithvi Shaw’s century helped Mumbai reach a decent first innings score of 314 against Tamil Nadu in the third round of the Ranji Trophy league stage. The centurion smashed 17 fours and two sixes en route to his three-figure mark.

Prithwi Shaw (123) and Shreyas Iyer (57) steadied the ship with a 98-run partnership after Herwadkar was dismissed for a duck. Suryakumar Yadav and Aditya Tare chipped in with useful contributions of 39 and 53 respectively. The returning Vijay Shankar topped the bowling charts for Tamil Nadu, bagging three wickets. 

R Ashwin and Yo Mahesh picked up two wickets each. Rahil Shah, who bowled in tandem with the Indian off-spinner, went wicket less in his quota of 25 overs. The visitor will look to bundle out its opponent on Wednesday after picking up two quick wickets at the end of Tuesday’s play.
