The Chennai lad’s love for speed began way back in 2006 when he had a glimpse of a race track. Since then, cycles and bikes have turned out to be the two best mates of his life.
“I used to take all my safety gears to home in the initial stages of my career just to convince my parents about continuing in the sport. I must thank TVS Racing for recruiting me and giving me the opportunity to join as a factory rider in 2009.
A lot of credit will also have to go to the mechanics and engineers, who have done everything behind the scenes for me”, said the 29-year old rider from Chennai. The track here in Chennai has always remained his favourite. “It’s our home track and we (fellow Chennai riders) do have the experience of practising a lot in it. We are also blessed with an international track here in the city”, replied the first Indian to have won Asia Road Racing Championship when questioned about the favourite circuit in which he has raced.
“It is a special feeling to complete a double hat-trick of championship titles. The season was the closest, not just in terms of points, but also on the track, with the top riders putting up their best in every single race. I prayed to finish the season on a high note and I did it”, said an ecstatic Jagan Kumar after clinching his sixth consecutive National championship. Jagan’s victory also made sure that TVS Racing won the Manufacturers’ championship for the year 2017.
