The young lad experienced moments of bliss as he received an autographed Patna Pirates jersey from the man himself. “I felt on top of the world and I am short of words to express the kind of emotion I am going through,” said a delighted Dhiraj.
Dhiraj, a Class 7 student, made a trip of 450 km from Tiruppur to Chennai to watch his icon in action in the final of PKL Season 5 against Gujarat Fortunegiants.
“I love his humbleness and honesty on court. The first match I got to watch on television was the encounter between Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan in PKL Season 3. After which, I didn’t think twice before offering my support to him and Patna Pirates,” Dhiraj reasoned out for his affinity towards the three-time champion.
“It is a blessing for us to have the Pro Kabaddi League final here.
He was in fact ready to travel to any part of the country to watch Pardeep Narwal live on the mat,” said his grandfather, who accompanied him to the event. Pardeep Narwal, a nightmare for opposition defenders, was overjoyed to meet such an ardent fan.
“I have had people from adjacent villages come to watch my game in Sonepat but I have never seen fans travel for hours just to catch a glimpse of me,” said the Haryana-born raiding sensation on the amount of dedication the boy has put in to watch him live.
“It feels proud to be a superstar in front of this young crop of kabaddi fans all over India,” added the ‘Best Raider of the Tournament’.
