After being asked to follow-on, Chhattisgarh fought back in style reaching 145 for no loss at stumps on day three against Tamil Nadu in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.

TN leg-spinner S Ajith Ram was impressive taking four wickets for 38 runs while R Sonu Yadav (3/67) and Lokesh Raj (3/39) also performed creditably to restrict the host to just 201 in its first innings and taking a lead of 174 runs.
However, there was a marked difference in the way Chhattisgarh batted in the second essay as both its openers Sanidhya Hurkat and Naved Ali slammed unbeaten half-centuries to ensure that their team’s deficit is down to just 29 runs.
Brief scores: Tamil Nadu 375 vs Chhattisgarh 201 in 85.1 overs (Naved Ali 47, Anand Rao 31, S Ajith Ram 4/38, R Sonu Yadav 3/67, Lokesh Raj 3/39) & 145 for no loss in 50 overs (Sanidhya Hurkat 82*, Naved Ali 53*).
Manav, Adhithya sizzle for TN
Tamil Nadu’s Manav Parakh shone with the ball as Hyderabad was shot out for 161 on the first day of the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy at Gymkhana Ground, Hyderabad on Tuesday. Manav thrived in the company of Adhithya Muralidharan who bagged three wickets for 22 runs.
At stumps, TN was fifty for two.

Chennai District volleyball trials
The selection for Chennai District sub-junior boys and girls at MRK Stadium will be held on December 24 at 7 am. Players born on or after 1.1.2002 are eligible to participate. Players should produce birth certificate, passport or Aadhaar card. The selected players will participate for Chennai District team for 40th sub-junior championship for boys and girls that will be held from January 4 to 7 at Thalavaipuram, Virudhunagar district.
Shree Hari scalps five-for
City has set Combined Districts a target of 186 in the TNCA U-14 tournament here on Tuesday. A total of 16 wickets fell on the second day as Combined Districts was bolwed out for 75. In its second innings, City couldn’t cope with the guile of T Shree Hari who took five for 28 to be dismissed for 137.
