Dhoni’s straight drive with sports app to groom small town champs
Even as the stage is getting ready for a rapturous welcome to Chennai Super Kings when the next IPL season kick-starts, MS Dhoni, the star cricketer is back in news. This time, it is a tryst with the city-based Golden Goose Sports India, a technology enterprise steered by Yeragaselvan Kumarasamy, from Erode.

Collaborating with ‘Captain Cool,’ the pet moniker for the former India cricket leader, Yeragaselvan has introduced a sporting talent app, Run Adam. The platform is aimed at hand-holding young sportspeople from humble backgrounds to make it to the big league in their respective sports. “In 2013, I was associated with Trinidad and Tobago Pro League, where I was managing the team. Later, I discovered that players pursue multiple sports and thanks to the IPL exposure, was able to connect with leading players such as Bravo,” he said, tracing the path that led to formalisation of the MSD association a year ago.
Run Adam is an analytics-based sporting ecosystem app to help support and develop sporting talent in India, he adds.
The reason to have MSD on board is to not only tap the icon’s Chennai connection but also leverage the grassroots background. As MSD says, “Run Adam is a unique platform that has a vision to help sportspersons, amateur to pro, to achieve their dreams. I relate intimately to sportspersons’ challenges as I myself have faced it in my early career. The tech platform will help secure the most important resources for sportspersons, providing easy access to high quality coaches, venues and sponsors – all of which are imperative for honing skills and improving performance. India has extraordinary talent and such a platform can help change destinies of sportspersons and the future of sports.”
Throwing light on the app, Yeragaselvan said talents are classified as: amateur, semi-pro and pro, and they could hail from towns like Tirunelveli, where coaches silently are producing top-notch athletes year on year.
