Tamil Nadu women lose to Karnataka

Tamil Nadu women’s team suffered a defeat in their last league match against Karnataka in the 68th Senior National Basketball Championship at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Sunday. It lost 67-83.

An awful performance by the host in the third quarter proved to be vital as the visitor pounced on the 16-point lead after allowing Tamil Nadu to claw its way back  into the match.     

Title-holder Kerala won its encounter against Madhya Pradesh by 28 points. MP could never control the game as Kerala chipped in with valuable points in each of the four quarters. 

In the other women’s games, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal defeated Rajasthan, Assam and Chandigarh respectively. Defending champion Uttarakhand registered a comfortable 77-55 victory over Rajasthan in the men’s category. 

Uttarakhand showed its dominance right from the word go, snapping up a seven-point lead at the end of the first quarter. It extended its lead further in the second and third quarters'.

MEN: Uttarakhand beat Rajasthan 77-55; Kerala beat Odisha 84-66 

WOMEN: Karnataka beat Tamil Nadu 83-67; Kerala beat Madhya Pradesh 62-34; Delhi beat Rajasthan 78-37; Uttar Pradesh beat Assam 75-59; West Bengal beat Chandigarh 90-62
