Tamil Nadu Badminton League to feature six teams

Chennai Shuttle Kings, Jade Force, Falcon Feathers, Jhaver Smashers, Lanson Knights and Flying Gravity will be the six participating teams in the inaugural edition. The six teams will be grouped into two groups of three each and the top two teams from each group will make it to the semi-finals on March 4. Each team will have a squad of 12 players to choose from. 

Group 1 consists of Shuttle Kings, Flying Gravity and Jade Force. Group 2 will have Smashers, Knights and Feathers. Each tie will comprise five matches - men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, junior boy’s doubles (Under-17) and mixed doubles. 

The player auction which was supposed to happen on Monday was postponed to Wednesday. The auction will feature 130 players from 24 districts in the state. The registered player pool comprises 77 men, 27 women and 26 junior boys. All teams will have a purse of Rs 2 lakh each. 

The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh while the runner-up will be richer by Rs 2 lakh.
