Local League: 12 teams to compete in Indian Bank hockey

The second Indian Bank State-level Hockey Tournament will be held at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore from March 1 to 7. Announcing this, Indian Bank MD Kishor Kharat said the bank is committed to promoting various sports disciplines in the state.

Chennai

Twelve teams will participate in the second invitation tournament. Apart from Indian Bank, Southern Railway, Indian Overseas Bank, Income Tax, Central Excise, Tamil Nadu Police, Chennai City Police, Sports Authority of India, Hockey Academy, Tamil Nadu XI Juniors, ICF and AG’s Office will play in the knockout format. The total prize money of the tournament is Rs one lakh with prizes for the winners, runner-up and third placed side. There will be prizes for the best Player of the Tournament and Man of the Match.

Indian Bank has rich tradition in producing many Indian players. Mohammed Riaz, Dinesh Nayak, V Raja S Thirumalvalavan and L Prabhakar among those who had donned the national colours.
