Capitalising on defending champion Chennai City FC’s dip in form, Indian Bank, which is yet to lose a match, exhibited complete dominance over RBI from the kick-off. Inform Elavarasan scored an early goal to give his team the much-needed momentum and forward Pravitto doubled the lead in the 19th minute. RBI defence was all over the place and couldn’t cope with the aggressive mindset of Indian Bank.

Just four minutes before the break, Indian Bank winger O Lepcha scored another to make it 3-0 and there was no coming back from that scoreline for the battered RBI.

The bank team’s scoring spree continued and it added two more to its tally to romp to a comfortable win. On the back of this performance, it has to be said that Indian Bank is in pole position to win the league.

Meanwhile, Chennai United, which has been struggling for form and points, turned on the style to pump in 10 goals against a woeful Income Tax defence. Siva Sakthi scored four goals while Subash scored two to complete a thoroughly deserving win for Chennai United.

Income Tax’s Venkatesan scored a hat-trick of his own but it was overshadowed by the overall brilliance of Chennai United. This win will come as a shot in the arm for Chennai United and its manager Raman Vijayan after a disastrous start to its campaign.

RESULTS: Indian Bank 5 (Elavarasan 8, Pravitto 19, Lepcha 41, Kapongo Lunga Patient 50, Lepcha 90+1) bt RBI 1 (Shiva Priyan 80); Chennai United FC 10 (Siva Sakthi 2, 31, 51, 61; Subash 6, 35; Nivas 16, Ganeshan 22, Edwin 27, Jude 43-og) bt Income Tax RC 3 (Venkatesan 25, 67; 82)
