Adharsh, Lakshana emerge Tamil Nadu U-7 champions
Adharsh K of Chennai and Lakshana Subramanian of Sivagangai emerged Champions scoring eight points each after nine rounds in the 31st Tamil Nadu State Under 7 Open and Girls Chess Championships at the AVM Rajeswari Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Virugambakkam.

Lakshana Subramanian, a student of Chettinad Public School, Managiri, Karaikudi made the country proud when she won the Gold medal in the Under 7 Girls category in the World Schools Championship 2018 at Albania last month.
Sharing the top spot with the winners were Coimbatore kids Mithra Kumaran J K in the Open section and Luxshana B K in the girls section. In the Girls section, second placed Luxshana went down to Champion Lakshana Subramanian in their individual encounter, giving a tiebreak edge to the eventual champ.
In the Open section, top two never got to meet each other and the superiot tie-break of Adharsh gave him the TN state Under-7 title. The nine round Swiss event saw the participation of 127 players in the Open section and 89 players in the girls’ section.
The closing ceremony saw Cash prizes being distributed by Chief Guest Mr Mohan Raja, Film Director. Mr D V Sundar, Vice President, FIDE presided over the function, while Mr Stephen P Balasamy, General Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, was the Guest of Honor.
