England fights back against Pakistan

Host England weathered an early storm against Pakistan on the third day of the first Test at Lord’s on Saturday to reach 235 for six at stumps and take a lead of 56 runs with four wickets remaining.

After bowling out Pakistan for 363, England was tottering at 110 for six at one stage before Jos Buttler (66 not out) and debutant Dominic Bess (55 not out) were involved in an unbroken 125-run association for the seventh wicket to bail their team out of trouble. Mohammad Amir took two wickets for 35 runs while his pace partner Mohammad Abbas took two for 36.
