Warriors’ decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired spectacularly as it was bowled out for 101 in 46 overs. V Vilasini emerged the top-scorer with 49 not out (127b, 3x4), but she waged a lone battle. Challengers’ captain Hemalatha stole the show with the ball scalping three key wickets for 27 runs. Leg-spinner PB Swetha lent her good support taking two wickets for 28 runs.
Setting off in pursuit of a modest target, opener Hemalatha batted with poise as she remained unbeaten on 61 (85b, 4x4). She ended up scoring 630 runs in the tournament that includes three centuries. Not surprisingly, she was awarded the player of the final.
