Talking about the expectations of the team going into a new season, Rohit explained ahead of its opening match against Dindigul Dragons to be played on Friday in Tirunelveli.

“We are not thinking about the last two seasons. We have a new team this year. The support staff – technical and non-technical – are different from the previous years. In fact, there are not many players from the past two seasons in the current squad. We are going in with an open mind this season, and the boys have gelled well. I hope things will look good for us,” he said.

The captain said there was not too much planning before the new season. “T20 cricket is all about experience. We have two immensely experienced players in Thalaivan Sargunam and KB Arun Karthik. We have come together in the last one month and everyone is contributing. We are not a one-coach, one-captain team, everyone is included and are playing as a team. I think that will be our strength this season,” he explained.

Rohit felt age was not a deterrent in his team. “The beautiful part about our team is that we have a 37-year-old SP Nathan, who is young at heart and also someone like Tushar Raheja who plays with immense maturity but is only 17 years old. At the end of the day, it is a sport. We want to enjoy the game and not think too much about the pressure that comes with it,’ he added.
