Kaalai is in excellent form as both its previous wins have been comprehensive. Warriors, meanwhile, failed to adapt to the wicket at Natham (Dindigul) and conceded a crushing defeat to Kovai Kings after winning its first two matches. Kaalai skipper S Anirudha has been in tremendous form as he slammed back-to-back half-centuries and has been pivotal in the team’s winning run.
Although there was an injury scare, Anirudha is expected to be fit for this encounter. The bowling department of Kaalai’s, led by the experienced Yo Mahesh, has performed consistently. It managed to restrict its opponents to under 150 in both its wins.
Kaalai will be hoping to sustain the winning momentum in Tirunelveli as well. Warriors, after a winning start, was exposed by Kovai Kings in its last match. Kovai Kings spinners restricted Warriors to 124. Kovai Kings then successfully chased down the total with 38 balls remaining.
S Suresh Kumar has been the backbone of Warriors’ batting. Its other batsmen will have to step up if the Warriors is to make a winning comeback on the spin-friendly track in Tirunelveli. The teams have met twice before, with Kaalai coming up trumps on both occasions.
