Trichy Warriors faces daunting task against Kanchi Veerans

Trichy Warriors faces the daunting task of not only defeating Kanchi Veerans at the ICL Sankar Nagar ground in Tirunelveli on Sunday, but doing so with a big margin so as to boost its net run rate if it is to progress to the 2018 Sankar Cement-Tamil Nadu Premier League Play-offs.

After beginning the tournament with two spectacular wins, Trichy Warriors crashed to three successive defeats. The seven-wicket win in its last match against Tuti Patriots kept it alive in the race. Trichy Warriors’ major concern ahead of its previous game was the lack of runs from the top-order.

However, fifties by opener Bharath Shankar and captain Baba Indrajith against Jones Tuti Patriots will soothe the nerves going into the all-important clash.

Confronting Warriors skipper Indrajith will be his brother Baba Aparajith who is leading Kanchi Veerans.

Although, Kanchi Veerans is out of the race after losing five out of six matches, the young side will look to sign off with a win. Interestingly, 18 of Kanchi Veerans’ 19-member squad have played at least one match this season. Kanchi Veerans has never lost to Trichy Warriors before.
