Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Varma wanted to know why Rai was not removed even after he failed to implement the top court’s order.  “I will be filing a petition against the CoA chairman Vinod Rai,” he added. Varma, the petitioner in the IPL spot-fixing scam which shook up Indian cricket, said former TNCA secretary Kasi Viswanathan could be in contention for the top post.

”In the last few years, what I have seen from him as a person is that he is very sincere and is serving cricket in his own way. If you want to take my opinion, Kasi Viswanathan is a very good choice for the BCCI’s top post. He is not a controversial person,” he added.

He also played down talk about former India captain Sourav Ganguly becoming the next Board president. “If you move to the north, I can give some names. Kolkata media very wrongly says Sourav Ganguly could be the next BCCI President. How is that possible without the cooling off period? He has been serving as the President of the CAB for the past four years. He was the Joint Secretary before that for a couple of years. Without taking cooling off, how can he be in the BCCI fold?,” he wanted to know.

He also suggested that former Indian player Brijesh Patel can be a good candidate for the Secretary post. About the voting rights for the state/associations, he said “This is again a conflict of interest. If you give six votes to two states, how can you say that it is okay? You only take away the voting rights of Baroda, Saurashtra, Mumbai and Vidarbha. You should have voting right as per rotation policy,” he added.
