Atalanta thrashes listless Milan

Former Milan player Mario Pasalic rubbed further salt into its wounds by also scoring. This was the fourth time Milan lost a Serie A match by a five-goal margin and it was the first time since 1998. Milan is now 10th on the table with 21 points while Atalanta climbed to fifth with 31.

The latter capped an outstanding year which saw it qualify for the Champions League for the first time and reach the last 16. On Saturday, Romelu Lukaku scored twice to lead Inter Milan to a comfortable 4-0 win over lowly Genoa as it rejoined Juventus at the top.

Lukaku, the regular penalty taker, also stepped aside when Inter won a spot-kick. He allowed 17-year-old Sebastiano Esposito to score his first goal for the club and become its second-youngest scorer after Mario Corso. Roberto Gagliardini was Inter’s other scorer as it pulled level with Juventus on 42 points from 17 games.

Leipzig on top; Bayern wins

Bayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee and Serge Gnabry scored late goals to give it a 2-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg as RB Leipzig sealed the unofficial autumn champion title with a comeback victory over Augsburg.

Dutch teenager Zirkzee scored with his first touch of the ball in the 85th minute. He slotted in three minutes after coming on as a substitute for Philippe Coutinho and Gnabry doubled the lead in the 89th to lift Bayern to 33 points. RB Leipzig went top with a 3-1 win at home to Augsburg, coming from a goal behind to clinch the three points.

With the victory, it secured the autumn bragging rights for the first time in the club’s brief Bundesliga history. Leipzig needed second half goals from Konrad Laimer, Patrik Schick and Yussuf Poulsen to grab the win and move on to 37 points, two clear of Borussia Moenchengladbach, which only managed a point with a 0-0 draw at Hertha Berlin.
