Assam beats Tamil Nadu in U-23 duel

H Trilok Nag’s (5/42) five-wicket haul in the second innings went in vain as Tamil Nadu lost to Assam by 52 runs in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy Under-23 Elite B four-day clash in Silchar on Monday.

Right-arm medium pacer Trilok Nag helped the away side bowl out the host for 143 in its final innings. Holding a 31-run advantage after the opening exchanges, Assam set Tamil Nadu a target of 175 for victory. But the tourist disappointed with the bat, making only 122 runs before getting bowled out on the final day. Mrinmoy Dutta (4/56) was once again the best bowler for the home team, scalping four wickets.


Brief scores: Assam 198 all-out and 143 all-out in 50.5 overs (Biplab Saikia 27, Mujibur Ali 28, H Trilok Nag 5/42, S Swaminathan 3/17) beat Tamil Nadu 167 all-out and 122 all-out in 39.4 0vers (S Radhakrishnan 44, K Vishal Vaidhya 29, Mrinmoy Dutta 4/56, Rahul Singh 3/43, Raj Agarwal 2/11).
