Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium. They lost their first wicket in the eighth over as Kevin Kasuza got an edge off Abu Jayed that flew to Nayeem at gully. Prince Masvaure and Ervine then saw Zimbabwe through to lunch and it was only in the 18th over of the second session that Bangladesh got a wicket.
Nayeem was able to lure Masvaure into a drive down the pitch. The Zimbabwe opener ended up hitting it straight back to the bowler who made no mistake with the catch. Nayeem then got dangerman Brendan Taylor in his next over after which Sikandar Raza stuck with Ervine to see the visitors through to Tea.
Ten overs into the third session, Raza fell to Nayeem. Abu Jayed then dismissed Timycen Maruma in the 80th over of the day before Nayeem dismissed Ervine for 107 in the penultimate over of the day.
Brief scores: Zimbabwe 228/6 (Craig Ervine 107, Prince Masvaure 64; Nayeem Hassan 4/68)
