According to the report, the Portuguese star and 5 time Ballon d’Or (Golden Ball) winner, Cristiano Ronaldo earns $ 868,606 or roughly Rs 6.23 crore for a tweet. That over Rs. 2.2 lakh for a single character. To give it some perspective, a space between words is also a character.

At second and third place come other footballers Andre Iniesta and Neymar who earn $ 590,825 (over Rs. 4.23 crore) and $ 478,138 (over Rs. 3.42 crore) for their tweets, respectively.

For the first time, non-footballers made the top 5 of the highest earning athletes on Twitter, as US great basketball player and 3 times NBA winner Lebron James took the 4th position with earning $ 470,356 (over Rs. 3.37 crore) per tweet. This makes him the highest earning US sportsperson on Twitter. On the 5th position came Indianskipper Virat Kohli. He earns $ 350,101(over Rs. 2.5 crore) per tweet he posts for his corporate partners.
