Ashwin hits his first ton of the season

On Day One, Ashwin, who opened the batting for his side, smashed 13 fours and a maximum during his 180-ball stay in the middle. Left-arm spinner R Sanjay Yadav (5/97) was the star performer for Alwarpet, scalping five wickets. At the CPT – IP (Turf) Ground, India Pistons CC and Swaraj CC combined got a staggering total of 22 wickets on the first day.

Batting first, India Pistons was bowled out for 135, courtesy of Swaraj left-arm slowbowler M Silambarasan’s (5/56) five-wicket haul. Following a poor show with the bat, India Pistons dominated with the ball, skittling Swaraj out for a mere 74 and taking the first innings lead.

Off-spinner L Sathiyannaarayan (6/22) wreaked havoc, sending six batters back to the pavilion. At close of play, India Pistons was 68 for two in the second innings,holding a 129-run advantage with eight wickets in hand. Elsewhere, Shoaib Md Khan (5/21) and L Suryapprakash (108) did well for Nelson SC and VijayCC respectively.
