Mohan helps Young Stars pick up 5 points from draw

As Young Stars had the lead after the opening exchanges, it took home five points. Nelson could manage only a solitary point. In reply to Young Stars’ first innings total of 339, Nelson was bowled out for 154 on Day Two, courtesy of left-arm spinner Mohan, who came up with a brilliant spell.

At VB Nest, off-spinner ME Yazh Arun Mozhi (6/117) also got six wickets for Swaraj CC, which took five points from the contest against MRC ‘A’. In response to Swaraj’s first innings score of 274, MRC ‘A’ could only muster 224 before getting all out. Elsewhere, centuries from S Karthik (113) and S Suresh Kumar (164 not out) went in vain as Madras CC picked up only one point from its drawn encounter against Alwarpet CC.

SRM Institute of Science & Technology (SRM IST) crushed Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in straight sets on Day Six of the Dr Rela Institute & Medical Centre Chennai District ‘A’ Division League Volleyball Championship at the DG Vaishnava College in Chennai on Friday.

SRM IST won by a scoreline of 29-27, 25-22, 25-16. The first set was tightly-fought, with SRM IST coming out on top 29-27. The second set followed a similar pattern and once again, it was SRM IST that took the initiative and won 25-22. The third set appeared to be a smooth sail for SRM IST, which completed the formalities with a 25-16 success.
