Southern Railway beats Income Tax
Southern Railway got the better of Income Tax 2-1 in the Chennai Hockey Association (CHA) Super Division League Championship at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in the city on Monday.

Verma (16’) and Govthanman (52’) got on the scoresheet for the winning side while Arun Kumar (39’) struck the solitary goal for Income Tax. After a goalless first quarter, Verma broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second period by converting a penalty corner. His goal proved to be the difference as Southern Railway led 1-0 at the break.
Down by a goal, Income Tax pushed hard for the equaliser in the third quarter and got the same in the 39th minute. Arun sounded the board, beating the rival goalkeeper with a penalty stroke. However, Southern Railway restored its one-goal advantage, with Govthanman bagging the winner in the 52nd minute via a penalty stroke.
Result: Southern Railway 2 (Verma 16’, Govthanman 52’) beat Income Tax 1 (Arun Kumar 39’).
Games suspended
Adhering to the guidelines laid out by the Tamil Nadu government, all CHA Super Division League championship matches have been suspended till March 31. It will come into effect on March 17 (Tuesday).
