‘Supermachans’ celebrates CFC’s sixth anniversary in a special way

Leading up to the club’s birthday, members from the core group of Supermachans collected donations from various sources, which amounted to Rs 20,000. It is to be noted that almost half the contribution came from Supermachans’ Singapore wing.

Once the collection part was done, the fan club, with the help of local NGO Unavu – Food for All, purchased thousand packets on Friday. About 15 members from the Supermachans group distributed food to the unfed in seven areas of the city – Marina Beach, Alwarpet, Egmore, Anna Salai, Foreshore Estate, Chintadripet and Mint Street.

“As we approached the club’s birthday, we thought about what could be done to the society. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of people are suffering for food and water. Hence, the core members came up with this idea. And, we managed to execute it on the special day,” said Ravi, one of the founding members of the fan club.

“We had a total fund of Rs 20,000. NGO Unavu – Food for All made sure that the cost of one packet was Rs 20. So, we bought Brinji for 1,000 people, and distributed it through our members on Friday afternoon,” he revealed. Chennaiyin official Ganeshaya Sodha, while speaking to DT Next, commended the fan club’s initiative.

“Supermachans is an integral part of the CFC family. It has stood by the club, through thick and thin. The love it has for Chennaiyin is unparalleled. On the momentous occasion of our club completing six years, the fan club has provided the greatest compliment through this noble deed,” said Ganeshaya, CFC’s head of sponsorships and marketing.
