The 27-year-old inked a five-year deal with ATKMB and is said to be the highest-valued footballer in the country. However, the club didn’t disclose the details. “I am delighted to have joined ATKMB. I had a detailed chat with head coach Antonio Habas and the owners,” Jhingan said in a press release issued by the club.

“I admire their vision and I am happy they felt that I could be a part of the family,” he added. The former Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC) defender was keen to ply his trade in Europe, preferably Portugal. But because of the coronavirus pandemic, he changed his plans and joined ATKMB, which will compete in the AFC Cup 2021.

Jhingan will form a troika with his India teammate Pritam Kotal and Spanish recruit Tiri, and will have a chance to prove his mettle at the continental level.
